I’m kind of divided.. The black presence needs to be acknowledged, but **** man, I live in Brooklyn by choice, I’m the only white kid on my block. I don’t feel the need to assert my Europeanness. All my co-workers are black, and I go to their parties largely unfazed. Then again, there are ignorant whites and blacks… the main thing is to COME TOGETHER. I thought this was going to be more on bands like Bad Brains…

alot of people say that it dosnt need to be “afro” in front of the name or we “segregate ourselves” with things like BET but in reality we need institution like this to let us know that its ok, its normals, your not alone, not different, your the same and some other black kid from across the globe is feeling like the odd man out too, just like you…so its ok, do your own thing . and it brings the black community together while unifying threw punk music. Everyone should be able to enjoy music.

black ppl invented rock & roll so…I don’t really understand this. Rock & Roll was originally a slang for *** used by african americans back in the 50s and earlier…

The funny thing is that rock n roll (not hard rock and metal) is 300% a black music, like jazz, like blues, like soul, like rythm n Blues, like hip-hop
The very first rock n roller are Fats Domino, Ike Turner, Chuck Berry and Little Richard !!! But at that times black didn’t get their own media.
