Summary of skills, projects and experience

Jim Gatten is the Acting Executive Director and Head of Business Relations at arts4. For fourteen years he has been a Director of Head-Line Communication Ltd, a company specialising in the development of training and information systems. He has project managed numerous CPD programmes as well as facilitating face-to-face training courses. He is Chair of the Federation of Independent Training Providers (FIT) and an adviser to the Department for Education and Skills.

Current consultancy projects include
  • an online news information site
  • developing multimedia CPD materials for teachers in Ghana
  • a new ICT qualification for teachers

Board of Directors

Maria Evans is the Director of Education at the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has an MA in Arts Management in Education and has worked for a number of arts organisations including Cheek by Jowl and LAMDA.

David Harris is Managing Director of a management, strategy and education consulting firm based in Derbyshire. David is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and specialises in projects related to improving the effectiveness of education and training.

Nicky Pallot is an independent theatre producer. A specialist in script development and production Nicky learnt her craft over eleven years as Artistic Director at the Bush Theatre, the home of new writing. From 1990-98 she was a producer for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Most recent work includes productions for the internationally renowned Theatre de Complicite, and working as Head of Theatre Unit at Arts Council, London.

Julia Potts is Education Manager at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley (part of the Ambassadors Theatre Group). Julia was educated at Manchester University, King's College London and RADA. Julia is also actively involved with Action for Children's Arts, a national organisation dedicated to the promotion and celebration of all arts for and with children, and with Magpie Dance, a professional dance company for adults with learning disabilties.

Mike Simmons is responsible for corporate fundraising at St Paul's Cathedral. After studying music at Liverpool University, Mike worked for the National Student Drama Festival and Kent Opera before spending eight years at Ticketmaster, where he was Head of Marketing. In 1995 Mike joined the Royal Shakespeare Company where he was Head of Commercial Development, working in sponsorship, fundraising and the company's commercial activities. Whilst at the RSC, Mike became deeply interested in the educational possibilities of the Internet and left to learn more about the web at e-Space, an online advertising sales and marketing company, where he became Managing Director.
