Relaunch of arts4schools' website |
There's only one item for the newsletter, and that's the relaunch of the arts4schools' site on Thursday 4th September.
Following on from feedback from the teachers' survey we conducted earlier this year, and our own plans for improving the services
we offer through the arts4schools' site, we've been making a number of changes.
We've also made the decision to introduce a subscription fee. This has
been a difficult decision for us but, as with many other organisations providing online information and resources, we've recognised that we cannot continue to improve and expand the arts4schools' site unless we introduce charges.
The coming academic year will be an exciting one - we've opened up the arts4schools' site to include visual as well as performing arts, and we are developing a number of
new features to ensure that information about arts' events and productions gets to you more quickly and easily.
We hope we will continue to have your valued support as we develop the UK's only "first stop shop" for the arts education community.

Additional benefits |
arts4schools also runs conferences, continuing professional development courses and INSET of particular value to teachers of English and the arts. Subscribers to the arts4schools' website not only get advance information about these events but also receive a discount on delegate/INSET fees.
INSET
arts4schools tailors courses to meet individual school needs. We have extensive expertise in running one day events or residencies, and can deliver a wide range of topics.
If you would like to discuss your school or organisation's requirements please contact us.
CPD
We are currently working on a science and drama CPD project, commissioned by the Department for Education and Skills and The Wellcome Trust. This very exciting initiative builds on previous projects which have demonstrated the value of using drama based techniques in the teaching of science. Training will take place late 2003/early 2004. If you would like to know more please contact us.
Conferences:
In January 2003 arts4schools ran its first Inspiring Tomorrow's Audiences' (ITA) conference. This was a highly successful one-day event which focused on the future of the arts in a digital world and the implications for schools and arts organisations.
Keynote speakers included Lord David Puttnam and Baroness Blackstone, then Minister of State for the Arts, who opened the conference. More than 300 delegates, including teachers, policy makers and arts organisation representatives, attended the event.
Feedback from the 2003 delegates:
Truly inspirational and supportive of the teaching profession - thank you.
An absolutely fantastic day - I feel inspired and ready to go and liven up my use of ICT...
Absolutely wonderful that you are creating this much needed forum.
We are currently planning the 2004 Inspiring Tomorrow's Audiences conference: subscribers will get advanced notice, as well as a discounted delegate fee.
