Membership of arts4schools is open to arts organisations or artists who:
- are based in the UK
- offer arts focused activities of relevance to the education sector
- agree to abide by the arts4schools' code of practice
Please note: the primary focus of arts4schools is arts education. It is meant to be a site that provides specific information about education activities, resources and so on. We will therefore look for evidence
of a genuine commitment to education from all prospective members.
Code of practice
We are very proud of the reputation arts4schools has built within the arts education community. Schools have increasingly come to value the service we provide, which includes easy access to reliable, up-to-date information about the UK's arts community.
To ensure the integrity of this service we ask member arts organisations and artists to agree by the following code of practice:
arts organisations
Member arts organisations agree to
- identify one named contact who is responsible for keeping the organisation's details up to date
- abide by best practice in terms of child protection issues. In particular, we strongly recommend that all staff who have direct contact with young people hold clean and up-to-date police checks from the Criminal Records Bureau.
- inform arts4schools of staff changes that affect our named contact
artists
Individual artists agree to
- keep their details up to date
- abide by best practice in terms of child protection issues. In particular, we strongly recommend that individual artists hold clean and up-to-date police checks from the Criminal Records Bureau.
If you would like information and guidance on child protection issues the Arts Council of England has produced a document called Keeping Arts Safe. It's available for free
from their website.
