Depending on the school, there may be a full music department that students can learn to play instruments or to sing and read music.

Smaller schools and homeschools often don’t have all the resources to provide a full music program. Arts4Schools is planning on providing information to help those without a music teacher close at hand.

Our first recommendation is to find online resources that have free music lessons – such as guitar lessons for beginners.  Many websites show videos and have online courses that are completely free. For more intense lessons there are courses on DVD or CD. Here is a review that covers a couple of the top guitar courses that can be purchased vs. online courses: DVDs or Online Guitar Lessons?

Another site to look at (which has free lessons posted) is Guitar Fly.
